The Community Clinic realizes that good oral hygiene is essential for preventing the most common forms of dental problems.

Partnering with the Louisiana State University School of Dental Hygiene, the Community Clinic has launched a Basic Dental Hygiene Class. At each class, the patient is able to get their teeth cleaned and x-rayed, and most importantly, are taught that in order to achieve good oral hygiene it is important to conduct daily preventive care in the form of proper teeth brushing and flossing with dental floss.

They are shown that these two simple techniques will help stop problems before they develop and are much less painful, expensive, and worrisome than treating conditions that have been allowed to progress. Other issues such as explaining the affects of sugar and smoking are also incorporated into the program.
